A lifelong student of human behavior, and with a great fascination for brain-based therapies, Rachel is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of Idaho. During her undergraduate studies through Liberty University, she served as an intern at The Shepherd’s Center in Gig Harbor, Washington. It was here she found her professional niche and decided to pursue her masters in counseling. She went on to graduate summa cum laude from Bradley University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling “Neurocounseling” program.
As a dedicated mental health professional, Rachel is committed to guiding her clients towards their goals through her compassionate yet clinical approach. Certified in Brainspotting, she integrates this modality with various techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, internal family systems, and most importantly a Rogerian person-centered approach.
Previously, Rachel was embedded as a therapist in Heritage Health’s Psychiatric Services department. This experience provided her with a deeper understanding of psychopharmacology as well as gaining considerable insight into the various aspects of severe and persistent mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective, and bipolar disorder. Additionally, she started and led a Boundaries group, coaching clients on various aspects of identifying, placing, and enforcing healthy boundaries in their relationships.
A natural listener with a nonjudgmental stance, Rachel builds trust in her clients and creates a safe space for them to open up. She then assists them in their healing process, whether that be reprocessing trauma, overcoming barriers, reframing perspectives, challenging growth, boundary clarification, or other defined needs. Rachel promotes self-awareness in her clients and champions the goals they set for themselves in all the important aspects of their life. She finds joy in unburdening her clients.
Most importantly, Rachel instills hope which acts as a catalyst towards a healing-oriented mindset. Her penultimate goal is helping her clients move onward and upward.
A type of therapy that utilizes points in the visual field that help access unprocessed trauma in the subcortical brain.
Unique to this therapy is that there is not a lot of talking involved; therefore you can reprocess painful experiences without sharing the details in session. Rachel can prompt you with code words so that you stay focused on the issue at hand, but you are not retraumatized in the retelling of it.
This therapy utilizes bilateral music. Rachel will have headphones with hygienic protectors ready for your use in session.
Rachel can provide Brainspotting in person as well as in video sessions.
